A Simple Guide on Diamond Bracelets

Diamond bracelets are simple and elegant pieces used to highlight any drab outfit. They are usually used as anniversary or birthday gifts as they are the perfect if you want someone to be reminded of you daily. This is because they are easily seen. It's the ideal way to get connected to your special someone. It is also one of the best gifts to yourself if you want to feel special.

Styles

There are two styles of diamond bracelets in the market. Diamond bangle bracelets are rigid circles that are usually worn with other bangles to create a very feminine jingle with every move of the wrist. However, it is advisable to only wear one diamond bangle coupled with a non-diamond bangle as two diamond bracelets might scratch each other out.

The other type of diamond bracelet is the more famous diamond tennis bracelet popularized in 1987 by tennis champion Chris Evert. She wore this in the 1987 U.S. Open.

While playing, the bracelet suddenly latched open, and she had to request for the game to be paused, so she can retrieve the rather expensive piece of jewelry. This boosted the popularity of the bracelet, and the very sporty name of the bracelet was actually derived from this.

Diamond tennis bracelets are individual strings of diamonds set in silver, gold, or platinum, strung together in row to form the bracelet. Some are made in pure diamonds; some are embellished with other rare gems, birthstones, or semi-precious stones for added color and luster.

Other than the styles, the bracelets also differ in the shape of the stone, the color of the stone, the metal used to embed it in, and the setting. For the shape, what is usually used is round or oval. Sometimes square cuts are used. There are also times that, as a design, the size changes per set.

For the color, diamonds are usually clear, but some have a tint of yellow or light brown. The clearer the diamond is, the more expensive the bracelet becomes. Some will opt to have other stones included with the diamond to add a variety of color; others would add birthstones to enhance the significance of the diamond bracelet. As for the metal used, gold and silver are more popular, but platinum is now gaining notoriety due to its sturdiness and ability to hold larger stones more securely.

Caring

Your diamond bracelet may be precious to you because it was given by someone special, or it may be priceless because it is a family heirloom. Either way, here are some tips in caring for your diamond bracelet:

1. If you are traveling, best to keep them in specially made pouches instead of wearing them readily.

This is a good idea if you are moving from one plane to another or if you have to hop from train to train and you are lugging 2 huge carry-alls and your pet dog. The chances of the bracelet to slip off, even with an emergency clasp, are high.

2.Don't wear it when you're doing manual work.

If you are going to do yard work or if you are about to clean the dog's kennel, it may be time for you to rest that diamond bracelet for a few hours. Although diamond is very hard, it can still be scratched by a hard bump.

3. Do not store diamonds together in one pouch or jewelry box as they can scratch each other.

TIt is a good idea to place them in individualized compartments or separate pouches. If it cannot be helped and you only have one jewelry box, then you can wrap them in tissue paper.

4. Visit your jeweler every 2 months so he can check if there are loose prongs or any problem with your bracelet especially if you wear it every day.

He may even do a complimentary cleanup for you.

Cleaning

If you wear your bracelet all the time, chances are, its brilliance has been “lying low” with all the perfume and lotion filmed around the stone. To clean your bracelet, prepare a warm bowl of water with mild detergent. Soak it for a few minutes then brush it with a toothbrush with ultra soft bristles. Rinse. Then place the bracelet on a plastic strainer to let it dry.
