What is Diamond Clarity

Diamond clarity refers to the amount of internal and external characteristics of a natural diamond. These characteristics include the measurement of the purity level in a diamond. It measures the amount of imperfections or inclusions ( black or white spots) that may appear in a diamond.

How is Diamond Clarity Graded?

The clarity of a diamond is determined by the amount, size and locations of the inclusions on or in a diamond. The GIA, EGL and AGS grading laboratories show show great detail on their certificates. The certificate is a map of the details and the characteristics of a specific to each diamond; displaying the locations and the number of the imperfections in a diamond.

FL-IF: A Flawless diamond is incredibly rare and has no flaws on the inside or on the surface of the diamond. Internally Flawless diamonds have no internal flaws but have external finishing flaws, these diamonds are also very rare.

VVS1-VVS2: Very Very Slightly Included these diamonds have slight inclusions that are hard to see under a 10x magnification and cannot be seen by the naked eye. The diamonds that are graded under these qualities are considered excellent.

VS1-VS2: Very Slightly Included these diamonds have inclusions that are hard to view under 10x magnifications. Diamonds that are graded Very Slightly Included (VSI-VS2) are not usually visible to the naked eye.

SI1-SI2: Slightly Included these diamonds have inclusions that are visible under 10x magnification. Inclusions on these diamonds may or may not be seen by the naked eye.

I1-I3: Included diamonds have inclusions that are extremely visible by the naked eye, diamonds under SI2 clarity are rejected by Sky Facet.
